Perhaps this is the actual problem with the health care reform bills, Rep. Conyers?

Monday, July 27th, 2009

This is one of those quotes that you just have to see to believe. The video is from CNS News. Apparently, Democrat Representative John Conyers truly believes that actually asking legislators to read the bills that they vote for is completely absurd. Conyers even goes so far as to explain the futility in the idea because the bills the Democrat Congress are drafting are so long and so complex that they are beyond comprehending in any reasonable amount of time without ample legal advisors to translate the bill’s 1,000 pages into plain English.

Wouldn’t this lead most reasonable people to believe that the current bill isn’t the right solution since the people who wrote it can’t even understand its full effects? Too bad the Democrats and their leader, B. Hussein Obama have proven beyond a doubt that reason plays absolutely no factor in their actions.

Obama is Tougher on GOP than Taliban in Afghanistan

Friday, July 24th, 2009

President Obama issued a statement that should concern every American about the nation’s military objectives for the war in Afghanistan. He has explained that we are not seeking victory because it conjures up images of the Japanese emperor aboard the USS Missouri to end the conflict in the Pacific theater of WWII. The same president that had no problem responding to Republican criticisms early in his presidency with the simple statement, “I won,” now can’t bring himself to commit to being able to tell the Taliban and al Qaeda in Afghanistan the same message. Perhaps, someone should claim that our nation’s enemies are opposed to socialized medicine and they supported McCain last November; maybe that would inspire him to fight to win.

White House Further Politicizes Arrest of Harvard Professor

Friday, July 24th, 2009

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs who is more painful to listen to than B. Hussein Obama without a teleprompter, accused police of demanding apology from president because they supported McCain. Unbelievable.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs who is more painful to listen to than B. Hussein Obama without a teleprompter, accused police of demanding apology from president because they supported McCain. Unbelievable.

In today’s press conference, the worst White House Press Secretary in modern history, Robert Gibbs, threw more gasoline on the fire concerning President Obama’s ignorant, inflammatory remarks that the Cambridge police “acted stupidly” concerning the arrest of black Harvard professor Henry Gates for disorderly conduct. After last Wednesday’s national press conference where B. Hussein Obama inferred that Gates’ arrest was due to racial profiling, the arresting officer, Sgt. James M. Crowley, expressed his anger and disappointment in the president’s accusations. (For the complete story, see yesterday’s post, “President Obama Acted Stupidly When Answering Question about Harvard Professor.”)

What I failed to mention in yesterday’s post about the situation is that Sgt. Crowley actually donates his own time to teach officers how to avoid racial profiling. Crowley was appointed to this position by a black police chief who has repeatedly stated that he has the utmost respect for Crowley as a police officer.

Press Secretary Gibbs took the controversy to a whole new level when he addressed the Cambridge Police Department and Fraternal Order of Police’s request for an apology from President Obama. Steve Killian, the president of the Cambridge Police Patrol Officers told media, “Cambridge police are not stupid. I am proud to represent the officers of the Cambridge Police Department. I think the president should make an apology to all law enforcement personnel throughout the entire country.” When confronted with this statement in today’s press conference, Gibbs responded, “I think the Fraternal Order of Police endorsed McCain, if I’m not mistaken.” The Politico states that a reporter quickly pointed out that Obama earned the endorsement from the Policemen’s Benevolent Association, which Gibbs replied, “We got some.”

So that’s the answer from the self-professed post-political, post-racial administration; the police are only angry at B. Hussein’s idiotic accusations of racism because they supported John McCain during the election. The important question now is, does B. Hussein Obama represent all Americans or just those that voted for him? This is not presidential behavior.

President Obama Acted Stupidly When Answering Question about Harvard Professor

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

President Obama was correct about one thing during his Wednesday night press conference. He didn’t know the facts of the case surrounding the arrest of Harvard professor and director of the university’s W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research, Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Gates was recently arrested at about 1:00 AM after he and a friend were seen by a neighbor forcing entry into his house because Gates forgot his house key that night. The concerned neighbor called the police because she was concerned that the two men were breaking into Gate’s home. In the course of the investigation, Gates was placed under arrest for disturbing the peace and this is where the controversy starts.

Harvard professor Henry Gates' is accusing Cambridge police of racism.

Harvard professor Henry Gates' is accusing Cambridge police of racism.

Gates claims that he was racially profiled by the Cambridge police and was merely arrested for being in his own home. President Obama verified Gates’ account during the press conference by first stating that he did not fully know the facts but he was a personal friend of Gates. This was probably the most relevant statement B. Hussein Obama made about this story. The president then explained that the Cambridge police “acted stupidly” and then went on to state that it was a plain fact that blacks and Hispanics are disproportionately pulled over by police and then went on to describe legislation he worked on in the Illinois legislature to end racial profiling. A big problem with Obama’s assessment was that Gates was not pulled over or “profiled” in any way. The police were called because a concerned neighbor, thinking she was acting in Gates’ best interest, saw Gates and his friend forcing their way into the house. This wasn’t a case where the police merely drove by and saw a black man in an upper-class neighborhood and decided to pat him down and question him. Gates was actually “profiled” as someone forcibly breaking into a home. Regardless of race, concerned citizens and police will always respond to people meeting that profile.

The story could have easily ended after the police officers spoke with Gates and confirmed that he was forcibly entering his own home. This is the point in the story where President Obama seems to quit paying attention to the actual events that unfolded that evening. Writing in Human Events, Larry Elders explained that Cambridge Police Sergeant, James Crowley approached Gates and informed him that he was responding to a call from a concerned neighbor and asked him to step outside to speak. At this point, Gates refused to step out onto the front porch. He opened the front door and yelled at Crowley, “Why, because I’m a black man in America?” As Crowley continued to try to question Gates to get to the bottom of the situation, Gates continued with the harassing statements, informing the police officer, “You don’t know who you’re messing with.” Gates then responded to another request to step outside by saying, “Ya, I’ll speak with your momma outside.” At this point, no matter what Gates’ race was, he was clearly antagonizing the police officer who was responding to a call that someone was breaking into Gates’ home, which is exactly what the professor and his friend were doing to draw concern from the neighbor.

The police report that Crowley filed about the incident details Gates continued accusations of racism and reluctance to cooperate with the officers who were on the scene purely to ensure the safety of Gates home and property. After initially refusing the officer’s request for identification, Gates finally complied and produced his Harvard ID. During the exchange, a crowd of onlookers and additional police officers gathered because of the uproar. Sgt. Crowley writes in the report that he repeatedly told Gates that he was becoming too belligerent and was getting close to crossing the line which would lead to arrest. Gates did not take the advice and continued yelling and insulting the officers which lead to his arrest for disorderly conduct. He was taken to the station, booked, and released a few hours later. The charges have subsequently been dropped but the president’s remarks last night have further propelled the story in the national media and Gates has now retained an attorney and is preparing for a lawsuit.

Reporters caught up to Sgt. Crowley on his front lawn and asked if he would like to apologize to Gates. The officer explained he would not apologize and did not intend to in the future. Meanwhile, the Harvard professor is in the press requesting a meeting with Sgt. Crowley to discuss the incident.

So who is to blame for the whole incident? It’s hard to put all of the blame on one party or the other. After confirming Gates’ identification, the police could have just turned a deaf ear to his harassing accusations of racism and walked away. At the same time, however, Gates could have realized that the police were only there to protect his property after responding to a phone call from a concerned neighbor. It does seem that Gates was looking for a racial incident from the beginning and President Obama’s statement that the police behaved “stupidly” while obviously completely ignorant of all of the facts only works to continue this controversy. This whole incident could have been over after five minutes had Gates cooperated. Instead, the president has elevated it to the level of being an indictment of America’s racism. It’s just another example of Obama’s tendency to speak and act before he knows all of the facts. Throughout his political career, B. Hussein Obama has proven that he has awful first instincts when addressing an issue.

Obama’s Press Conference was Just More Deception

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Obama's constant deception would almost be humorous if it didn't pose such a large threat to every Americans' health.

Obama's constant deception would almost be humorous if it didn't pose such a large threat to every Americans' health.

During last night’s press conference, B. Hussein Obama spun some really far-fetched fantasies. He claimed that he is actually a deficit reducer who is working diligently to lower a $1.3 trillion deficit he inherited. Apparently, Obama wants us to forget that he strong-armed through his $787 billion economic “stimulus” package which is pushed well over the $1 trillion-dollar-mark once interest payments are added to the cost. He also hammered through an omnibus spending bill that increased discretionary spending from previous levels and carried a price tag over another $450 billion. A staggering amount of both the stimulus and omnibus bill rely on deficit spending because as Obama admitted early in his tenure, “We are already out of money.” B. Hussein doesn’t count the omnibus spending bill as his deficit because it was supposed to have been passed under the Bush administration but the Democrat-controlled Congress decided to sit on the bill until Obama came to office so they could have all of their goodie-bag spending projects which would have been threatened with a veto by President Bush. The stimulus and omnibus bill alone represent well over the $1.3 trillion deficit Obama claimed to have inherited.

However, the most offensive claims made by the president were directed at doctors and private insurance companies. In the press conference, President Obama claimed that his plans to hijack the American health care industry are required because doctors currently prescribe procedures solely based on the profit margins of the available treatments. The president gave the example of bringing a child with persistent sour throats to the doctor. In this scenario, Obama said that instead of finding the appropriate treatment, the doctor looks at the payment schedules for various treatments and decides to unnecessarily remove the child’s tonsils. This is an outrageous claim made by the president about our nation’s medical professionals that they are currently prescribing unneeded procedures for the sole reason to greedily line their pockets. Under the current Medicare and Medicaid systems, our nation’s doctors often treat patients covered by these programs at a financial loss because the government has set payments well below the actual costs required to treat these patients. Many doctors in the nation forego positions in large cities or in private practices where they could make significantly more money than where they currently work in small towns or non-profit hospitals. Through issuing his blanket accusation of American doctors’ greed causing the current problems in the American health care system, the president insulted some of America’s smartest and hardest working professionals. This is unacceptable.

After insulting the doctors, B. Hussein Obama also accused the private insurance companies of working against their customers’ best interests. He made his case by instructing us to take a look at the insurance provider’s recent profits. While no one expects the lifelong community organizer to understand any aspect of business, it would be nice if Obama could at least realize that businesses exist in order to make profits. If a company is unprofitable, they cannot serve their customers or their employees. When the companies are responsible for paying for a majority of Americans’ medical care along with picking up the tab for the difference between what government plans reimburse doctors versus the actual costs of the treatment, it is very important to see the insurance companies profiting and thriving. If the private insurers were not profitable, Americans would face much higher out-of-pocket costs and have less access to various treatments.

Even more amazing is the fact that B. Hussein Obama is pointing to the private insurers as what’s wrong with the system while pushing to eventually move all Americans onto a Medicare-type plan that is bleeding more money every year and not even compensating health care providers for the full amounts of treatments administered to patients. Any rational person would think that the government would try to be finding out what the private insurers are doing correct to remain profitable while over 80% of Americans mostly privately insured report they are satisfied with their current insurance coverage. Instead, Obama is using the failing Medicare model as the template to expand and eventually cover every American. He is throwing out a mainly successful system in favor of a failing one. This makes no sense.

No one is against reforming health care to control costs and increase coverage. However, Obama’s plans for reform represent steps backwards that will expand costs and decrease access. Instead of expanding the currently failing government health care plans that are leading the nation to insolvency, reform must concentrate on what is working and expand on current success. Recently, the World Health Organization ranked the US health care system as number one out of 191 countries studied. American patients have the best access to a choice of doctors and treatments and they currently spend far less times than patients in other nations waiting for treatments they need. Our system is not completely broken as B. Hussein Obama wants us to believe. Currently, our health care system is the best in the world which is why so many foreigners come here to receive medical treatment. Obama’s plans are not designed to improve access or quality for anyone. They are designed to make everyone dependent on the federal government for medical treatment that means life or death. Throughout the entire debate, B. Hussein is using deception and flat-out lies to push his plans through before anyone can fully digest the liberties we will sacrifice if he gets his way.

B. Hussein Obama Trying to Coerce Congress into Passing Health Care Reform

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Americans won't have a choice but to be on Obama Care because their insurance company won't survive if B. Hussein gets his way.

Americans won't have a choice but to be on Obama Care because their insurance company won't survive if B. Hussein gets his way.

President Obama has voiced his impatience over the legislative process concerning the health care reform bills being drafted by Congress. He has declared, “The time for talking is through,” and is pressuring Congress to vote on a bill before the end of this month even though neither of the bills before the House and Senate come close to meeting the objectives of lower health care costs and improving access. The director of the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office testified before the Senate last week announcing that the nothing in the bills submitted for scoring would reduce health care spending and the bills would, in fact, increase the already exploding budget deficit.

In fact, the current bills would vastly increase the amount government spends on health care while also destroying private insurance policies thus forcing everyone onto a newly-created government-run plan. This is in direct contradiction to Obama’s promises throughout his effort to sell his version of health care reform that anyone currently satisfied with their private insurance and medical providers will be allowed to keep them. Currently, despite Obama’s grim assessments, over 85% of Americans are satisfied with their insurance plans and doctors. They do not want to be forced into some government plan that will place a layer of government bureaucracy between them and their doctors. While private insurance companies are often accused of inserting themselves between patients and doctors, the main difference is that ultimately, individuals can change insurance providers if they become too fed up with the red tape. However, once the government becomes the only insurance option in town, that choice goes away and patients are stuck with the treatments that the government decides they will get.

The current plans are particularly disturbing because they include provisions that would break Obama’s promises and prohibit private insurers from revising any part of their existing policies which anyone who has ever purchased insurance through their employer knows is an annual occurrence as insurers revise covered expenses and update costs and payments. Under the plan Obama is seeking to force Congress to pass by the end of this month, there could be no changes to any existing policies. As soon as any adjustments are made to existing policies, they would be outlawed. Private insurance companies would also not be allowed to write any new policies. It doesn’t take too much to realize that this will eventually place everyone on the new public option that B. Hussein Obama insists must be part of any health care reform. Whether you like it or not, you will eventually be insured by B. Hussein’s government and they will make your medical decisions for you.

Today, the president fielded a question from a blogger from Maine who described the Draconian restrictions included in the bill and asked the president “Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?” The president, who has scheduled a national press conference in order to convince Americans of the need for this bill responded, “You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.” Apparently, the bill that is so urgent that Congress must bypass all forms of deliberate debate in order to pass immediately, isn’t important enough for the president to actually read and become familiar with. While the bill is currently over 1,000-pages-long, the specific provision in question is located on page 16. Any legitimate review of the legislation would have at least covered the first 16 pages.

However, there is another possibility and that is B. Hussein Obama is perfectly familiar with the provision in question. Not only is he familiar with it, but it is a requirement to his plans to destroy the current private insurance market, thus forcing everyone to be dependent on his all-powerful administration. His heavy-handed tactics of pressuring Congress to pass this legislation before anyone, including members of Congress, can read it are necessary to hijack the American health care system before anyone is able to fully comprehend the magnitude of his actions. This presents a clear and present danger to every American who values personal freedom and quality health care.

The American Thinker points out that the World Health Organization (WHO) recently ranked the United State’s health care system number 1 out of 191 countries for being responsive to patients’ needs, including providing timely treatments and a choice of doctors. However, B. Hussein Obama claims that the entire system is broken and must be rebuilt from the ground up. The WHO’s number one ranking coincides with the fact that the 85% of Americans are perfectly happy with their current insurance and doctors. B. Hussein isn’t satisfied with the current system because he does not have total control over it. Americans need to call their representatives and senators to demand that Obama never gets the control he is seeking. If Obama wanted provide every American with health insurance coverage, he could have done so by purchasing the uninsured private insurance policies for far less money than what he spent on his impotent economic “stimulus” bill. But this was never a question of providing insurance coverage; it is, and always has been, about inserting as much control as possible over every aspect of Americans’ lives. Call your representatives in Congress today and demand that they refuse to go along with B. Hussein Obama’s power grab.

Michael Bloomberg Wins First-Ever “Absolute Dumbest Statement Award”

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg wins the first "Absolute Dumbest Statement Award" for completely disregarding reality and reason.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg wins the first "Absolute Dumbest Statement Award" for completely disregarding reality and reason.

This is a hard feat to accomplish so Michael Bloomberg deserves some credit. With so many utterly idiotic statements that run completely contrary to reality, it’s hard to say something so stupid that it deserves the title of “Absolute Dumbest Statement.” In explaining his opposition to Republican Senator John Thune’s amendment to the hate crimes bill currently before the Senate that would have allowed concealed carry permit holders to carry across state lines into other states allowing for concealed carry permits, Michael Bloomberg turned up the scare tactics and completely disregarded any piece of actual reality. Bloomberg said, “Criminals will be able to obtain concealed carry permits and walk the streets carrying handguns.”

What the hell are you talking about Michael?!? Is Bloomberg so stupid to think that Thune’s amendment would suddenly open the door for criminals to carry handguns across state lines? In order to obtain a permit to carry a concealed weapon, applicants are subjected to thorough background checks and most states also require about 8 hours of training and testing to prove the applicant’s knowledge and ability of how to safely handle and shoot a weapon. On the other hand, criminals don’t apply for permits and just tuck their handgun into their belts and head out the door. In fact, it’s this criminal tendency that causes most concealed weapons permit holders to obtain their permits. The only way that concealed carry permits would increase the number of criminals carrying handguns would be for inept politicians like Michael Bloomberg to outlaw legal concealed carry permits like Bloomberg does in the city of New York.

For his complete disregard for reality and logic, congratulations Michael Bloomberg. You have just made the “Absolute Dumbest Statement.” Unfortunately, with B. Hussein, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid running the show, Bloomberg probably won’t hold his title for very long.

Obama’s Stimulus Promises from April v. Stimulus Promises Now

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

The GOP has a new ad comparing the president’s descriptions of his non-stimulating $1 trillion stimulus plan immediately after it was passed to the latest explanations that it was “never intended to work in four months.” It’s pretty obvious that B. Hussein’s stimulus plans were inept at best and out-right deceptive at worst. Now, he wants us to believe that he can actually improve health care even though none of his other initiatives have panned out as he promised.

Russ Carnahan Flat-Out Lies about Health Care Costs

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Last week, Obama and the congressional Democrats were issued a blow by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) who found that none of their proposed solutions for health care reform will actually lower health care costs. President Obama has repeatedly claimed that any health care bill will have to be revenue neutral for him to sign it into law. The CBO’s report found that not only will the House and Senate health care bills fail to reduce current costs, they will actually increase the federal government’s health care spending by at least $500,000 billion. Even worse, Congress only submitted parts of their proposals to the CBO for scoring. The costs to the federal government’s costs are expected to be much higher than the current price tags on the incomplete bills of at least $1.5 trillion after the full details are submitted. It’s pretty obvious that B. Hussein Obama’s promises that health care reform will not add to the deficit are at the best negligently naive, and at the worst out-right deceitful.

Both the House and Senate bills will also require Obama to backpedal on his promise that anyone currently satisfied with their private insurance will be able to keep it. The current proposals have draconian restrictions on what the federal government will deem as a “qualified” insurance plan and any changes to private policies will cause those covered by them onto the newly-created government-run insurance plan. Also, anyone currently purchasing their own insurance policies will end up on a fast-track onto the government insurance plan. Curiously, there is one group of Americans who will never have to worry about having their current policies taken from them; members of the House of Representatives and Senate will be immune from being forced onto the public plan they create which will end up being the only insurance option for just about every one of their constituents. While Congress is determining the best health care options for us, they refuse to subject themselves to their own plans.

Recently, Missouri Democrat Representative Russ Carnahan didn’t let any of the CBO’s projections of massive deficits get in the way of painting a rosy picture of Obama’s health care reforms. Speaking at a town hall meeting in St. Louis, Carnahan actually claimed that the CBO determined that the Democrat health care proposals will actually result in a budget surplus. Carnahan’s claims aren’t the product of a clever reading of the numbers. It is an outright lie to the people who trusted him to represent them. This is unconscionable for an elected representative to make such outrageous flat-out lies to his constituents. Carnahan also recently voted in favor of the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill despite the projections that it will cost his congressional district millions of jobs and significantly increase the daily living costs of all of his constituents. While Waxman-Markey will be devastating for Carnahan’s constituents, it will be a boon for his brother’s wind power company, Wind Capital Group. Whose interests was Carnahan representing when he voted for Waxman-Markey? While his constituents’ stand to lose their jobs and pay increased prices for just about everything they buy, states and cities will be forced to purchase more of their energy from horribly inefficient and expensive sources such as the wind power generated by Carnahan’s brother’s company Wind Capital Group? 2010 cannot come soon enough.

Watch the video below from www.gatewaypundit.blogspot.com to see Carnahan’s outright lying to members of his district in St. Louis.

Do as Obama Says, Not as he Does

Friday, July 10th, 2009

President B. Hussein Obama explained today that the United States has a “moral obligation” to send cash, food, and other resources to poorer nations, especially those in Africa. This must have been a difficult speech for Obama to give with a straight face. Anyone recalling the election would remember that Obama’s half brother lives in a hut in Kenya. For a mere $50 a month, Obama’s half brother would be elevated to the upper middle class in the poor African nation. However, even while Obama implores everyone in the US to sacrifice in order to take care of the poor in America and overseas, the president fails to send the slightest aid to his own family living in grass huts. We can also recall the discovery that one of Obama’s aunts which he has previously spoken very fondly of was found living off of government assistance in a slum in Boston. The elderly lady had overstayed her visa and failed to leave the country even after an immigration judge ordered her to do so. Once again, even as Obama was collecting millions of dollars from book royalties and Michelle was given a $400,000-a-year job at a hospital that had secured government funds thanks to B. Hussein, he demands all Americans sacrifice their earnings because he thinks everyone benefits when we “spread the wealth around.” Yet, the “spread the wealth around” President fails to follow his own standards when it comes to his own family members living in huts and urban slums. The president loves to accuse average Americans of greed for not wanting to pay for their neighbors’ mortgages and health care even though he has never given the slightest aid to his own family members.
